Five Great Plains musicians formed a band in 1972. First on the music scene in Minneapolis with "glitter" Rock & Roll-they migrated to a more classic form of Rock & Roll. After a 2001 reunion on stage, the Rudy Lopez Quintet was reactivated as the RL5 featuring all original compositions of Gaston Reddy and the band.
